The iJoy Capo 100W Squonk Kit promised us 100 watts of pure squonking power. The reality is that much of the excitement built around this tiny little mod was based on the excitement over the wave of new squonking releases. It was the first of several regulated options and possibly the most cost effective. So what do we think of the iJoy Capo 100W Squonk Kit? Read on…

With that out of the way, the iJoy Capo 100W Squonk Kit comes in a nice package that resembles a fancy watch. A stout full kit that requires only liquid, mounting of coils and wicking to get going. iJoy has been a hit with their inclusion of their 20700 batteries (which battery mooch publicly clarified is not actually 40amp capable) and the capo brings one along. Out of the box assembly is easy and very straight forward, a very intuitive design that would make even lightly seasoned vapers feel like real experts. The quality of the Combo RDA by iJoy cannot be overstated, this is a gorgeous little RDA that handles heat exceptionally well and produces amazing flavors based on your build of choice. The Capo Squonk Mod itself is tiny but beefy with a large screen that features an integrated button that provides you the ability to scroll to reach your desired watts.
Let’s just skip to the part you care about. How does it vape? In my experiment with this setup I used a 0.10 build, a 0.15 build, and a 0.2 build. My best results were yielded on the lower threshold, because sadly the capo does not put out the power it promises, with a cap of 4.2 volts reaching 100 watts takes an impossible level of difficulty. What was 100 watts on the screen felt closer to a high 70 and low 80. That’s not the say the vape wasn’t enjoyable and wouldn’t be fine for a vaper who just wants flavor but its just disappointing to experience. The flavor on all three builds was spectacular, all praise to the RDA itself. While the flavor was consistent and good the degradation of the experience becomes much more noticeable as the battery starts to lose its charge. The moment you see the first two battery bars vanish its time to run for a charge or lower your wattage to compensate for the drag. Over a few hours with a regular vaping interval of a puff every three minutes the charge held up for the first hour, past that it starts to feel like it’s tapering off and you end up taking longer puff to enjoy the same amount of cloud. For a vaper possibly with a higher ohm build that doesn’t particularly enjoy a hot vape these conditions are ideal but for the vaper who enjoys a full blow cascade of clouds this might not be the ideal device for you. It might do as a mod you use on the couch while you watch the tube, or work at your computer but on the go? Not an all day vape experience at all, and that’s where the disappointment really kicks in. 9ml of juice capacity for an hour doesn’t seem to be a very fair trade off. Worst of all fixing this mod is only possible through a new batch of releases because sadly iJoy decided to make the Capo 100W Squonk Kit incapable of receiving firmware updates, a feature that is available in the non-squonk version of the capo.
Overall is this a good purchase? Depends, that depends on how you like to vape and if you mostly vape where you can charge or if you like higher ohms and a cooler vape overall. Luckily for us the iJoy Combo RDA is also available separately so at least one true reward can be gained from this failure of a release by iJoy.
